Before that I did see for myself in the home of mother's second cousin a letter that had been sent mamy years ago to that family from my own grandmother Selma Shumpert Estes , the wife of Mannie , Jesse's brother . Grandmother was giving requested information about information on tombstone for family members . In Jesse's family grandmother listed Carter Estes born Nov.20 , 1912 and died Dec. 20 , 1912 . Grandmother would have seen the tombstone long before it was so worn . The grand daughter of Jesse and Mabel Estes also has confirmed the baby Mabel gave birth to in 1912 was named Carter . That would explain the space between the Car and son of on the worn tombstone . If you would change the name from Carl to Carter the family would greatly appreciate it .
