MISSION VALLEY - Patsy Vaughn, 74, of Mission Valley, Texas, went to meet her Savior Monday, Jan. 17, 2011. She was born May 28, 1936 in Marble Falls, Texas, to Stillman Austin and Buna Merle Lewis Sims.

Patsy was a retired school teacher for VISD and taught many years at Mission Valley Elementary. She earned a Master of Education degree from the University of Houston - Victoria. She was a member of the Thomaston Free Will Baptist Church where she spent many years teaching Sunday school and was a member of Women Active for Christ. Patsy volunteered as camp cook for Camp Sonshine in Keith for over 10 years. Patsy was a member of the Victori-A's Club.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, and her grandson, James Stephen Davis.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Gaylon Vaughn; one brother, Dr. Eugene Sims and wife Mounette of San Antonio; one sister, Anita and husband James Fickey of Bryan; two sons, Glenn and wife Debbie Vaughn of Mission Valley, Gerald and wife Frances Vaughn of Thomaston; and daughter, Gay Lynn and husband John Davis of Thomaston; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services are planned for Friday, Jan. 21 at 2 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home with Dr. Eugene Richards and Bro. B. J. Davis officiating. Private interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria.
