CASCADE -- Services for Coit E. Herrick, 89, a Long Valley pioneer, who died Wednesday in a Cascade hospital, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cascade Community Christian Church, with the Rev. Roy Patton officiating. Interment will be at Alpha Cemetery, with Walker Chapel in charge of services.

Mr. Herrick was born Oct. 4, 1876 at Exira, Iowa. As a small boy, he moved with his parents to the Black Hills, S.D. He was a graduate of the State Teachers College at Spearfish, S.D. He came to Long Valley in 1902 and homesteaded his present ranch. He began working for the Forest Service in 1906 as the first district ranger on the old Payette Forest. He resigned in 1912 to take up farming and cattle raising. He was married to Viola Cantrall Sept. 3, 1907 at Boise. He served in the House of Representatives from Valley County in 1935. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Viola Herrick, Cascade; two sons, Dorsey Herrick and LaVaughn Herrick, both of Cascade; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family suggests memo rials be given to Cascade Community Christian Church in lieu of flowers.

We was the son of Emerson Edwin Herrick and Mary Francis Myers Herrick, both deceased.
He married Viola A. Cantrall 04 Sep 1907, in Boise, Ada County, Idaho. They are the parents of Elbert A. Herrick, Dorsey Coit Herrick, Myron LaVaughn Herrick and Blanche N. Herrick.
