Deaths
Mrs. Carrie A. Hawn

Carrie A. Guiser, daughter of Sarah and Louis Gusier, was born Nov. 4, 1867, at Martell, Wis., and died at her home in Rock Elm Nov. 14, 1942.

She grew to young womanhood at Martell, and spent some years making cheese on her father's farm.

Feb. 22, 1893, she married Jay L. Hawn of Rock Elm. To them were born three children: Lois (Mrs. H. O. Churchill), Bernice (Mrs. V. L. Kilgore) and Selma (Mrs. A. C. Reinkey), all living near Rock Elm. Besides her children, she leaves 10 grandchildren, two sisters - Mrs. N. A, Wiff of Glendora, Calif., and Mrs. C. C. Wiff of Martell - and one brother--Frank Guiser, of Martell. Preceding her in death was her husband, who died Feb. 14, 1927; also one sister, Mrs. A. S. Rudesill, and two brothers William and John Guiser.

One of the first telephones in Pierce county was installed at the Hawn home; as other telephones came a switchboard was installed, which she has operated for nearly 40 years.

She enjoyed good health until about two years ago, when an attack of erysipelas, followed by heart trouble, caused her death. Although not an active member of any church, she was a believer in the Christian faith. She was a member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service. She will be sadly missed in the Community and on the telephone lines, where her cheerful voice won many friends.
