In 1807, John "Jack" Prillaman married Miss Sarah (Sallie) Grayson, daughter of William Grayson and Rachel Cooley of Montgomery County, VA. Together John and Sarah had four children. John Prillaman owned a mill in the area, and in the 1850 county census, he is listed as a 68 year old farmer with property valued at $1500. Just three years later, he died of typhoid fever. His stone is marked simply "J. P." He and his wife Sarah are buried next to one another in the Marsh Prillaman Cemetery. Their son David is buried nearby.
