IMA MAE CANADY MUSTON PATRICK

Ima Mae Muston Patrick passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2011 at the Wesleyan at Scenic Nursing Home in Georgetown, Texas.

Mrs. Patrick was born Ima Mae Canady on April 6, 1919 in Portales, New Mexico. Following her parents death, she was raised by her beloved Aunt Lois and Uncle John "Pick" Pickens in Lometa, Texas.

Mrs. Patrick obtained her Masters in Education degree and a BA in English from the University of Texas at Austin, Texas. She also studied at the University of Illinois and the University of London. She began her 34 year long teaching career in Lometa, Texas and later taught in Baytown, Texas. In 1989 Mrs. Patrick taught one summer of graduate English in China. She was President of the Baytown Teachers Association and a member of the Professional Teachers Sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma. She was head of the English department of Robert E. Lee High School in Baytown, Texas and Director of High School English for the Goose Creek Consolidated ISD.

Mrs. Patrick married Lt. Claude Muston in 1942. Col. Muston passed away in 1980. In 1994 she married Mr. Paul Patrick of Burnet, Texas who preceded her in death in 2001.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories two daughters, Ima Jean Muston Wilkerson Kershner of Georgetown, Texas and Gwendolyn Lois Muston Allen of Garland, Texas; James S. Choung of Houston, Texas; and grandchildren, Ike Wilkerson and wife Cindy of Canton, Ohio and Cody Pickens Wilkerson of Lufkin, Texas.

She is mourned by a host of friends, former students and her dearest friend in the later years of her life, Pat Williams of Burnet, Texas.

A funeral service will held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 14, 2011 at the Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas with Reverend Tommy West officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas, Texas.
