Betty was born as Rena Jewel Walker on December 3, 1928, in Collinsville, Texas, the daughter of James Walker and Daisy (Mitchell) Walker. Betty grew up on farms near Hollis and Gould, OK; the youngest of 14 children. She was a graduate of Ron High School, near Hollis, Oklahoma and played on the girl's ½ court basketball team.
On October 24, 1948, she married Jack Gilbert Ramey in Wellington, Texas. They made their first home in Pampa, Texas; moving to Ponca City in 1954 when her husband was transferred with Continental Carbon. Betty was a homemaker and worked for the Ponca City News during the late 1970's. For several years she was a cook for special Kay Baptist Association, community, and business banquets.
Betty was a longtime member of Sunset Baptist Church, teaching five year old Sunday School for many years. Vacation Bible School held a special place in her heart and she taught in the five-year old class for about forty years; helping children with crafts even at age 81. Betty was a photographer and took photos of her family and pets, winning many ribbons at the Kay County Fair. She enjoyed reading and caring for her cats and dogs. In her younger years she played volleyball on the Continental Oil Company League.
She loved spending time with her eight grandchildren. She enjoyed teaching them to do crafts, going on long walks, and attending their many music concerts, sports, and school activities.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1998, son, Jimmy Gilbert Ramey, her parents, 6 brothers, and 7 sisters.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, June 30th, 2011 at Sunset Baptist Church with Matt Brown, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
