Morris Franklin Varnell, 72, of Chattanooga, TN went home to be with the Lord Sunday, June 26, 2011.
Morris retired from DuPont and served with the Air National Guard.
He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Morris loved music and enjoyed being a DJ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Estelle Varnell; and a sister, Joyce Long.
He is survived by the love of his life, Billie Phifer; children, Reece (Sandy) Varnell, Michael (Karen) Varnell, Doug (Charisse) Varnell, Stacey Varnell Mitchell, Ginger (Mark) Plummer, Kirk Phifer, Kim Buck, Kip Phifer; 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister, Peggy Spearman; brothers, Ray (Carol) Varnell, Roger (Elwanda) Varnell and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The Building Fund of Christ United Methodist Church, 8645 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in the Heritage Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Flynn and Rev. Lawrence Clark officiating.
Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
Reece Varnell, Michael Varnell, Doug Varnell, Kip Phifer, Kirk Phifer and Ryan Cordell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Varnell Sr., Greg Varnell Jr. and Noah Phifer.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m today at Heritage Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 7454 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, TN.
