I am a graduate of Elyria High School and The Northern Ohio Private Police Academy, was a Deputy Sheriff in Portage County while J.D.Wilkens was Sheriff.

I am descended from Distinguished Revolutionary stock, whose history was blended with "the times that tried men's souls" my G-G-G-G-Grandfather, William Cooke servied as Colonel of the 12th. Regiment, Continental Line, Pennsylvania, being composed of riflemen, was employed upon picket duty, covered the front of General Washington's army during the year 1777, served under General William Irvine, he was a Northumberland County Pioneer from Paxton Twp./Lancaster County/Pennsylvania, where he settled in 1766 after emigrating from Enniskillen/County Fermanagh/Ireland, he was the first Northumberland County Sheriff, he was at Valley Forge and fought in the battle of Brandywine, Colonel William Cooke was one of Pennsylvania's Founding Fathers, was one of the framers of Pennsylvania's first Constitution, 1776.

My G-G-G-Grandfather John Cooke was commissioned by George Washington as Captain of the 4th. Sub-Legion in 1792, and served under Major General "Mad" Anthony Wayne during the "Battle of Fallen Timbers", 20 August 1794, which was fought up around Toledo,Ohio. On captain Cooke's return from this campaign on furlough, he with a number of other officers, accompanied General Wayne to Philadelphia. They called, in a body, on President Washington, where Captain John Cooke was introduced by General Wayne, Wayne's exact words were, General Washington I take the liberty of introducing to you, Captain John Cooke, a specimen of my own harts blood, afterwords they then proceeded to a fashionable boarding school, where the Captain, in the presence of General Wayne and his comrade officers, clothed in his battle-worn uniform, was united in marriage to his cousin Jennie, daughter of Colonel Jacob Cooke.

Captain John Cooke was a son of Colonel William Cooke of the 12th. Regiment Pennsylvinia Line. It may be said of him that he was cradled amid the din of arms, as while a small boy the family occupied one of the houses at Fort Augusta during the early part of the revolutionary struggle. He studied law under Stephen Chambers, Esq. at Lancaster in the year 1790 and 91. In 1792 he received from General Washington a commission of Captain in the 4th. Sub-Legion: raised a company of 120 men in the then bounds of Northumberland county (of whom it is said only twenty returned alive) which was sworn in at Carlisle barracks July 25,1792. Captain Cooke acted as Justice of the Peace many years, and died on his farm in Point Twp/Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. July 16, 1824, in the 58th. year of his age.
