Mrs. J. E. McGrath, 73, a native of Savanna township, died Saturday afternoon in East Moline where she had for about four years been a patient in the state-hospital. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon in the Christian funeral home in Mt. Carroll with burial in Oak Hill cemetery. She is survived by four sons, Doty and Bion of Savanna, Winsel of Mt. Carroll, and Robert of Hays, Kans.;
one daughter, Mrs. George Meyers of Mt. Carroll; one sister, Mrs. Abbie Wires of Mt. Carroll, and several grandchildren. -- Thurs., Feb. 9, 1939, Thomson Review, pg. 4
