Genevieve was the daughter of Albert and Jeanette (Grooters) Slothouber. She was raised at Middleburg and graduated from Northwestern Academy and attended Northwestern College in Orange City, IA. She then did clerical work for the Sioux County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service

On October 27, 1943, she married Ralph J. Mouw at Orange City, IA. They made their home in Orange City, where Genevieve was employed by the Northwestern State Bank and later the Selective Service. In more recent years. she served as a teller at the Windmill office of Northwestern Bank, retiring in 1983.

Mr and Mrs. Mouw then spent the winter months at the Village of Holiday Lake in Port Charlotte, Florida.

She was an active member of the Trinity Reformed Church, where she had served as president of Reformed Church Womens Ministries and sang in the choir. She also belonged to the Northwestern College Auxiliary. She was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed handwork, especially knitting.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
