Clarence Pearl Sleeth, 70, of Brashear died at 5:05 Monday afternoon March 7, 1983 in the Boone County Health Center in Columbia where he had been a patient the past month. He had been in failing health two years.
The son of Robert and Hallie Elizabeth Huston Sleeth, Jr. , he was born August 8, 1912 at Gibbs. On December 17, 1938 at Queen City he married Neva Lee Coy who survives. Also surviving are one sister, Oletha Milstead of Brashear and several nieces.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Wilbur Sleeth in 1933.
Mr. Sleeth was reared in the Brashear community where he received his education. He was also engaged in farming and also bought and sold livestock and grain.
Mr. Sleeth spent his life in Adair County and for the past 37 years had lived in Brashear.
He was a charter member of the Adair County Historical Society and the Adair County Cattleman's Association. Mr. Sleeth was also a member of the Brashear United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon March 10, 1983 in Hudson-Rimer Park View Chapel, Kirksville. The Rev. Beryl Cragg of Brashear will conduct the services. Burial will be in the Brashear cemetery.
Casket bearers will be Kyle Cooper, Fred Stutsman, Kenneth Cooper, Ricky Brown, Bill Shouse and Rex Meline.
