Folk Figure. Previously known as "The Boy in the Box" and "The Fox Chase Boy," America's Unknown Child was found wrapped in a blanket inside a box strewn among rubbish at a roadside dumping ground on Sasquehanna Road, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Despite years of trying to find the boys identity, his name is still unknown, and how he met his death is a mystery. When found his hair had been cut (perhaps in an effort to conceal his identity), and his nails had been neatly trimmed. He was also covered in bruises. His life doesn't seem to have been a happy one, and when he died, he was never reported missing. There have been several theories as to who he could have been, but none of them have ever been proven with any certainty. Philadelphia police are keeping this case active, and new leads are still being followed. Remington Bristow, an investigator in the Medical Examiners office spent 36 years on the case, often spending his own money and time following leads. Unfortunately he went to his grave without seeing the Unknown Child buried with his own name marking his plot. He is now buried in Ivy Hill Cemetery, after being exhumed from the Potters Field where he had been previously buried.
