Lester Edward Elsbury Born January 24, 1927 to Elbert E. & Mary (Schryver) Elsbury, a prominent Gurnee Farm Family, died September 25, 2010. While attending Sterns Grade School Les participated in 4-H then FFA while attending Warren High School. He was a member of UFCW Union, working for Welton's Food Market in Gurnee, as a meat cutter for most of his career. He was a member of the Lake County Farm Bureau and one of the original founders and a board member of the Warren Township Credit Union, now Community Trust Credit Union. He is a World War II Veteran, who served in the U.S. Marine Corp in Tsingtoa, China. Having worked long hours for many years, retirement afforded him time to enjoy the family who were always his number one priority. He touched the lives of many people in the community with his friendly smile and concern for his friends, customers and co-workers. Lester loved to work in his woodshop, was a terrific gardener and all around Mr. Fix It. He was always up for a campfire with whom ever would join him. He married Nancy (Miller) Elsbury in 1995, combining their families of Lisle (Patti) Elsbury, their children Chris (June) Elsbury, Dawn (Jim) Biba; Lynn (Tom) Doolittle, their children Jim (Jennifer) Doolittle & Rick Doolittle; Gary (Tricia) Elsbury, their daughter Carmen Oberg; Wendy Bryant, her children Buck Bryant, Kelly (Tommy) Groner; Lee (Ralph) Volpe, their son Christopher Volpe; Step Children; Ronald Cliff, Bradley (Liza) Cliff, their children Bradley Jr., Dana, Mikhaela & Maria; David Cliff; Curtis (Robin) Cliff, their children Cody, Felica, & Triston; Katrina (Howard) Thomas; 7 Great Grandchildren; 3 Great-Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Clare Lieght and sister-in-law, Margaret (Irish) Elsbury and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by infant daughter Judith Lynn; Parents Elbert E. & Mary Elsbury; Grandparents Marion F. & Betsey (Chase) Schryver and W. James & Eliza (Hucker) Elsbury. James was a passenger on the Titanic and lost at sea. Also preceded in death by, Sisters Ruth, Mildred (John) Haisma, Alice (Albin) Johnson, Brothers Burton, Clifford, Milford (Sophie) Elsbury, and Brother-in-law Allan Leight.
