He was born on July 25, 1921, in Mount Union, the son of the late Lloyd F. and Adeline (Winnick) Rutter. He married the former Lorraine C. Lentz.
His wife survives, as well as one son, John Paul, at home.
Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Glenn (Grace) Scott of Baltimore, Md., and one brother, Eugene Rutter of Mount Union R.D.
He was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Elizabethtown, and worked for 26 years in the maintenance department of the Masonic Homes.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4, from the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union. The Rev. James H. Grumbine will officiate and interment will be made in the Rockhill IOOF Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday, and after 8 a.m. until the time for services on Saturday.
