Anton F. Schwaller, Sr., aged 77 years, for 35 years a barber at Brillion and also engaged in the operation of a music store and a real estate office, died Sunday at his home in the village of a heart attack. He had been a resident of Brillion for 49 years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brillion, with interment in the church cemetery.
The deceased was born in France in 1855 and came to this country when a young man 19 years of age. He located first at Sparta, Mich., where he took up barbering and later came to Burlington, Wis., where he was married 49 years ago to Mary Wagner of that place. They moved shortly afterwards to Brillion, then a small settlement. Mr. Schwaller opened a barber shop in Brillion which he continued to conduct for 35 years. He also operated a music store and for a number of years was engaged in the real estate business. He retired a number of years ago.
The deceased was a member of the Catholic Knights of Wisconsin and the Holy Name society. He was also a charter member of the Brillion fire department.
Besides the widow, five daughters, Mrs. Dennis Werner, Appleton, Mrs. Arthur Neumeyer, Hilda and Mildred of Brillion and Mrs. Emanuel Scheibel, Sheboygan, five sons, Nobert of Green Bay, Raymond of Appleton, Joseph of Brillion, Anton, Jr. of Little Elkhart Lake, and Wilfred and 25 grandchildren.
