Earl Wayne Adkison, age 68, of Clinton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2007, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Mr. Adkison was born Sept. 16, 1939, in Coffey County, Ala., to James William and Viola Phillips Adkison, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Ervin Adkison; one sister, Verina Sharp; and one son, Bruce Adkison. Mr. Adkison retired from the Y-12/K-25 plants and was a member of the Clinton Church of God. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958 to 1964. He enjoyed fishing, computers and spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Adkison is survived by his wife of 46 years, Dorothy Montgomery Adkison; a son, Wayne Adkison; and two daughters, Sonya Roberts and her husband, Jeff, and Sherrie Mecca and her husband, Joe. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Alica and Alana Lopez, Austin and James Mecca, and Andrew Adkison; by two sisters, Myrtle Bethea and Syble Turner; by one brother, Alcus Adkison and his wife, Betty; and by two sisters-in-law, Faytha Smith and Maxine Nichols. There will be a graveside service Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at 11:30 a.m. at Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
