Blair E. Barrett, 70, of Johnson City, Tenn., died Friday, Jan. 13, 2006, following a stroke.

He was born and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, where he attended Ashtabula High School and Kent State University. He served in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Ceremonial Guard. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He also enjoyed singing with the SPEBSQSA groups Caveman Chorus in Glasgow, and the Tar River Chorus in Rocky Mount, N.C. Mr. Barrett was an engineer, retired from Consolidated Diesel Corporation of Rocky Mount, NC. In retirement, he enjoyed being outdoors, camping, and the company of his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, four daughters and three sons-in-law, and a son and daughter-in-law. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Ruth Blair Barrett; and an older brother. Charles L. Corky Barrett.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Johnson City, Tenn.
