MATTOON - The funeral for Carlos N. McNamer was Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Mattoon with the Rev. Art Woolverton officiating. Burial with military rites was in Shiloh Cemetery in rural Lerna. Harper-Swickard Funeral Home in Charleston was in charge of the arrangements. Organist Brenda Siefferman accompanied vocalists John Roetker and Jerrald Bennett, who sang "Because He Lives." She also played "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" and "In The Sweet Bye and Bye." Pallbearers were Terry Titus, Roger Hamilton, Dennis Gathman, Jerry Parker, W.D. Fisher, John Swick and Leon Huffmaster. The honorary pallbearer was Hezzie Bariether. Members of the Mattoon V.F.W. Post 4325 participating were Commander, John Protz; Chaplain, Larry Owen; Buglers, Bill Newton and Bill Miller; Color Guard, Doc Dufrain and Dennis Ernst, Russell "Tuny" Cox, Bill Nash, and Ronald Smith. Mr. McNamer, 89, of Mattoon died April 23, 2010, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
