Abe (Abe) Hanson (Andreassen) was born in Sondre Land, Oppland, Norway, the fifth of nine children of Andreas and Anne (Anna) Hanson. In 1868, Abe along with his mother, Anna Abrahamson, and sisters, Annette and Anna emigrated on the ship Anna Delius. Records indicate they left Christiana (Oslo) on april 26 and landed in port of Quebec on June 17. From there they would have taken the railroad to Westby, Vernon County, Wisconsin. The following year Andreas and sister Severine emigrated on the same ship. In October of 1971, records show the family living in LaCrosse, WI. The 1880 census show tghe family living in Vivian, Waseca County, Minnesota. In 1900, the Grand Forks, ND census shows Abe living with his brother-in-law and sister Airtjpr amd Anna Newton working as a labourer. In 1903 Abe slected land in the Big Woody District in the RM of Swan River for a homestead and went back to WI for the winter and returned in the spring of 1904.
