Catherine lived with her son Dr. Earle, in Moorefield, the last 15 yrs of her life. She took up oil painting the last 12 yrs and had two exhibitions, one in Listowel and one in Moorefield. She signed her paintings, "Mother" and was affectionately termed Moorefield's Grandma Moses, in a 1949 K-W RECORD article. She was a talented millinerist and her husband provided her with a spacious millinery department in his Elmwood Grocery store. Ladies from Bruce and Grey counties drove for miles in their buggies to buy her special bonnets.
