Ernestine E. DVORAK

One of ten children born to Elam Ethan and Katherine Irene Allen, she was born Ernestine Edna Allen in Outlook, WA on September 16, 1908. Ernestine graduated Salutatorian from Kiona-Benton High School in June of 1926. She attended the Derbyshire School of Fine Arts in Seattle and studied poetry writing with Lucile V. McCurtain. Ernestine's poetry has been published in "Washington Verse" and in the Quickenings poetry magazine. Ernestine was a charter member of Artists United and has won numerous awards as an artist. She was also a past member of the Seahurst Workshop Gallery.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Donald J. Dvorak, her parents, 2 brothers and 7 sisters. She leaves her three children, son Donald L. Dvorak (wife Carole) of Benton City, WA, daughter Tamara A. Pruitt (husband Jerry) of Burien, WA and son Gene D. Dvorak of Covington, WA. Her family consists of 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and McDuff. Ernestine was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church and is happy to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday the 12th of February, 2005, at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 109 S.W. Normandy Road, Normandy Park, WA 98166.In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the John Knox Presbyterian Church.
