DEATH OF MAUD BROWN
The hearts of Caney people were saddened Wednesday morning by the sudden death of Miss Maud Brown who succumbed to the ravages of pneumonia about 8 o'clock that morning after an illness of but four days. She was in her usual good health last week and on Friday in company with Mrs. Jack Truskett spent the day in Tulsa. Upon her return she complained of a slight cold and on Sunday took down with a severe case of pneumonia. Her condition grew rapidly worse until the end came early Wednesday morning.
The funeral services will be held from the family home on South High street this afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Dr. J. N. Beall of the Presbyterian church and burial will be made in the Sunnyside cemetery.
Maud May Brown was born on the 22nd day of August 1895, on the old home place of the Brown family in Oklahoma, southwest of this city. At the time of her death, she was 24 years, 5 months and 19 days of age. She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brown with whom she lived in this city. She leaves besides her parents, two brothers and four sisters all of whom are living. They are Lora Barnett, Perry, Lula, Helen, Edward and Margaret Brown.
The deceased had always lived in Caney and vicinity and was well and most favorably known among our people. Her's was a beautiful character that made and kept friends with everyone. She was always pleasant and cheerful and a favorite among her associates. The sudden and untimely death comes as a great shock not only to those of her family, but the community as well. The sincere sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved family and relatives.
