Susana Hanson was born in Germany on December 20, 1832 to Bernard and Catherine Alberts Hanson. Susana is the sister of brothers Peter (1833-1911); Nicholas (1836-1913 and Bernard (1840-1911). The Hanson family immigrated to America in 1852. In 1858 Susana Hanson married Englebert Olinger. They lived on a farm on Cox Creek, Clayton County, Iowa. Englebert and Susana had twelve children: Anna Catherine "Kate" (1858-1917); George (1860-1938); John (1861-1945); Frances (1863-1944); Bernard "Barney" (1865-1962); Emma (1866-1952); Ella (1868-before 1924); Adam (1870-1933); Margaret (1871-1948); William (1873-1875); Mary "Mae" (1876-1961) and Julia (1878-1954). The children were raised on the farm on Cox Creek. Englebert and Susana moved to Volga City, Clayton County, Iowa in the late 1800's or early 1900's. Susana died on July 6, 1917 at the home of her daughter Frances.
