Louis "Garland" Nelson was born on Jan. 9, 1951, in Murray, Utah, the son of Louis Douglas "Junior" and Belva Hendricksen Nelson.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an Eagle Scout. He was Salt Lake County firefighter. After retirement, he moved to Evanston, Wyoming, where he was employed at Evanston Jubilee Sportsworld and Grocery store. He was an active member of the Elks, Eagles and Lions clubs. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, horse racing, and children. Garland was a friend to everyone.
He passed away at the age of 50 at the Evanston Regional Hospital on Tuesday, July 17, 2001, from heart failure.
Survivors include his loving companion, Vicki, of Evanston, Wyoming; sons: Louis Garland (Emily) Nelson Jr, of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Dusty & Shawn Ramsey and daughter, Candi Ramsey; mother, Belva Nelson of Midvale, Utah; grandchildren: Hunter, Ashton, Brayden, Alexis, Darian, Jessica and Megan. Brothers: Bill (Bev) Farmer oof Evanston, Wyoming, Howard (Judy) Farmer of Midway, Utah, Gary (MarJean) Nelson of Evanston, Wyoming; Sister: Cindy (Joseph) Sanchez of Draper, Utah.
Funeral services were held at Evanston 1st & 4th Ward building on Saturday, July 21, 2001, at 11 a.m. Burial at the Evanston Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Crandall Funeral Home.
