Soon after the settlement of his father's estate in 1780, he with his family removed to Plainfield, NH. In 1785 we find him and his oldest son James tax payers there. In the year 1788 he is down on the list for the support of the minister. Daniel Freeman had much wealth and surrounded himself with farms and land for his numerous family, much after the old patriarchal style. The home farm was extensive, covering very beautiful sites of hill and dale. A unique feature was the family burial lot, upon a lonely plain under fir trees, containing many monuments and tablets to the Freemans of the earlier settlers and their descendants.
