*Note - Jessie was listed as Lula's step- daughter in her 1954 obituary; when Jessie passed away in 2001, Lula was listed as her mother, not stepmother. Based on the information in JT's and Lula's obituaries, it appears Jessie was the daughter of JT's first wife Lydie Carter Nalley and died when Jessie was an infant. His obituary from 1942 stated Lydie died about 40 years earlier, which would have placed her death in 1901-1902; Jessie was born in 1901.
