Margaret Ruth Garr, daughter of Ed and Mandy Looney Martin, was born December 12, 1922, in Tipton, Missouri, and departed this life June 7, 2011, at her home in Stoutland, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years.

As a young girl, Margaret made a profession of faith in Christ and was baptized. At the time of her passing she was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

On October 4, 1941, Margaret was united in marriage with the "love of her life," Russell Garr. To this union was born three children, all surviving. She and Russell had celebrated sixty-nine wonderful years together.

Margaret was the definition of homemaker. She was a wonderful cook, and was happiest when she had a house full of friends and family to share a meal with. Not only did she take great pride in providing a welcoming environment for her children, but she could hardly wait every year for school to let out so her nieces and nephews would come stay with them for the summer. The memories they made as a family were precious to her.

Margaret spent many hours of hard work tending to her gardens, both flower and vegetable. However, it was very rewarding for her to reap the benefits of her labor.

She is survived by her husband, Russell of the home; one son, Jim Garr and his wife Linda of Independence, MO; two daughters, Joyce Williams and her husband Lloyd and JoAnn Hedges and her husband Frankie, all of Lebanon; two brothers, Melvin Martin and his wife Georgia Mae of Gravois Mills, MO, and Dean Martin of St. James, MO; two sisters, Olga Parish and Agnes Claiborne, both of Lebanon, MO; seven grandchildren, Carla Garr, Bradley Garr, Clinton Hedges and his wife Michele, Ronald Hedges and his wife
Ronda, Paula Hudson and her husband Casey, Tobin Hoy and his wife Paula and Tim Hoy; several great grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Zelpha Cross, and Flora Offutt; three brothers, Delmar, Malcohm, and Dillard Martin.

Margaret was a special lady with a heart of gold. Those who had the pleasure of knowing her through the years will cherish her kind words and spirit of giving. Our loss was Heaven's gain.

Services were held at 9:00 A.M., Friday, June 10, 2011, at Shadel's Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Clifton Hodges Officiating. Music was provided by Rusty Shadel, Soloist & DeLores Shadel, Pianist.
