Topeka State Journal, Wednesday, June 22, 1921, page 8:
Funeral services for Pvt. John Wilson, a colored soldier of Topeka, who died in France, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Central Baptist church. The Jordan Patterson Post of the American Legion was in charge. Interment was in Mount Auburn cemetery.

Died from disease 16 Oct 1918 at a base hospital in France.
The 806th Pioneer Infantry was assigned near the Bellieville to Metz region, during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, to build an ammunition depot.

Originally buried in French soil, remains returned to the US and re-interred in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Topeka, KS on 22 Jun 1921.
