Edward J. Morse, Sr.
Edward J. "Jack" Morse, Sr., a resident of 320 Pleasant St., died suddenly at his home Friday afternoon.
Born in Bennington Aug 7, 1913, he was the son of Burt and Catherine (Skehan) Morse. He received his education in Bennington schools, and was married to the former Ruth Pierson in Bennington. Morse worked most of his life as a painting contractor.
Survivors besides his wife include two daughters; Mrs. Diane Newton, Vergennes, and Mrs. Mary Garrett, Bennington; four sons, Joseph A. Morse, North Pownal, Edward J. Morse, Jr., Richard H. and Michael T. Morse, all of Bennington; one brother, Richard F. Morse, also of Bennington; 13 grandchildren, uncles, two aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Monday at 8:30 am with a prayer, and then from Sacred Heart Church at 9am where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, when the family will be in attendance. A wake service will be Sunday evening. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery in the family plot.
If friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Bennington Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
