Aaron is the son of John and Henrietta Simson Claflin. He came to Greene Co in the early 1800's with his wife, Cynthia Claflin. They had a daughter, Henrietta who married Judah Munson Spencer. She died in 1845 in Utica. Aaron and his wife Cynthia are buried next to their son in law Judah and his second wife Lavinia Haner Spencer.
