Rena Boersema was taken to be with her Lord on July 11, 2002, from St. Joseph Hospital in Bellingham. Rena was born on December 10, 1915, in New Holland, SD, the daughter of Teake and Maggie DeJong. She was married to Herman Boersema on June 27, 1940, in Everett, WA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herman her brothers Joe, Lue, and John DeJong her stepbrother Charlie DeWaard her stepsisters Florence Schetnan and Ann Compaan and a grandson Derek DeLong.
Rena spent most of her adult life in the Everett area and was very involved in the Everett Christian Reformed Church, The Everett Gospel Mission, and the Everett Christian School. She spent the last two years living at the Meadow Green senior retirement center in Lynden.
We praise God for the wonderful example she gave to her family, friends, and community of a life of love and service. We will all miss her deeply.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by Gillies Funeral Home in Lynden. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, at 1:00 PM at the Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Everett followed by a social time at the Everett Christian Reformed Church. A memorial service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM at the Third Christian Reformed Church in Lynden again followed by a social time at the church.
