Kevin S. Spencer, 54, of Reading, passed away June 22, 2011, in St. Joseph Medical Center, where he was a patient since June 20. He was the husband of Rita A. (Waters) Spencer, who passed away Oct. 26, 1995. Born in Reading on Jan. 20, 1957, he was the son of the late Donald R. and Joan A. (Angstadt) Spencer.
Kevin was employed for more than 30 years by Hershey Foods and Luden's in Reading, last working in 2008. Surviving are a daughter, Rita M. Spencer, and a son, Matthew S. Spencer, both at home; a stepson, Christopher J. Swavely, of Sacramento, CA; 3 brothers: Steven G. Spencer, of Myerstown; Richard J. Spencer, of Reading; and Chris G. Spencer, of Mohrsville; and 2 sisters: Tracy A. (Spencer) Velazquez, of Mohrsville, and Terri L. (Spencer) Barbera, of Denver, Lancaster County. Graveside Services will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family. Whelan Schwartz Funeral Home, 444 N. 9th St., Reading, is in charge of the arrangements.
