The funeral of Mrs. Lucy Terwilliger, who died suddenly on Wednesday last, was held at the family residence near College Street on Thursday a.m. Rev. Hoffman, pastor of the M. E. church, conducted the service. The text was "In my Father's House are man mansions." The burial occurred at the Downs cemetery. A number of relations from a distance were in attendance.

Lucy M. Imus was born August 10th, 1814 at Attica, Genesee county, New York. She was married to Levi S. Terwilliger at Weathersfield, Genesee county, New York, on November 18, 1832; then moved from there to Ohio; then came to Mohasha county, Iowa, where they lived five years; then moved to Ringgold county, Iowa; then came to Kansas where they lived until the present time, some eight or nine years.

At the time of her death, Mrs. Terwilliger was 73 years, 11 month and 8 days old. She appears to have died without pain, being found dead in her bed where she had laid down to take her noonday's rest. While they lived in New York State, she was a member of the Baptist church; and in Iowa, there being no Baptist church, she became a member of the Methodist church.
