William died on February 28, 1902 in Berlin (Kitchener) at the age of 67 years, 5 months and 25 days. According to his Death Registrar #025841, cause of death was Gangerene of the Lower extremities. It is believed he sustained the injuries from a fall from the roof of a local Lutheran Church.
