Craig Sarbeck, 42 of Loveland, Colo., died Friday in a traffic accident in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Mr. Sarbeck was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Lawrence and Violet (Pinizzoto) Sarbeck. He lived in Ashtabula and Belpre, Ohio and graduated from Belpre High School in 1973. He graduated cum laude from Kent State University.

He moved to the Albany-Scio area in 1974 and to Loveland, Colo, in 1978.

A lover of the outdoors, Mr. Sarbeck was a naturalist and enjoyed mountain climbing and backpacking. He was an author and lecturer and director of the publications for The Emissaries in Loveland. He developed and led multicultural, international wilderness programs.

Surviving are his parents, Violet and Gene Sarbeck of Scio; brothers David of Templeton, Calif., and Wayne of Scio; sisters Susan Lee of Lacomb and Karen Sarbeck of Stayton. Brother Bruce Sarbeck died before him.

Memorial services will be held at Sunrise Ranch in Loveland, Colo., and the Okavango Delta in Botswana, South Africa.

Craig Sarbeck, 42 of Loveland, Colo., died Friday in a traffic accident in Johannesburg, South Africa.
