OBITUARY

After an illness of many weeks duration, Mercy Willett passed to her reward on Wednesday December 23rd at the home of her daughter Mrs. J. E. Kanouse. A few weeks previous to her death she was brought from the home of her son U. P. Willett in Madison county in a very critical condition, in order that she could spend the remainder of her life with her daughters, Mrs. J. E. Kanouse and Miss Clara Willett. Her condition, grew gradually worse until she passed away.

The funeral was held at the M. E. Church on Thursday the 24th, Rev R. M. Craven officiating. Burial being beside her husband in Deep creek cemetery.

Mercy Mitchell was born at Vinton, Iowa in 1840; during the year 1859, she was married to E. S. Willett and lived with him six years in that place, after which they moved to Lawrence, Kansas. During the year 1883 the family moved to Crow creek valley where they resided for several years, then came to Missouri valley. During the year 1888 Mr. Willett passed away and deceased has since resided with her children most of the time.

During her illness she was accorded every care kind and loving children could offer. She was a member of the Methodist church and was devoted to her religious duties as well as to her children. Out of the birth of ten children she is survived by six, namely: Mrs. J. E. Kanouse, and Miss Clara Willett, Townsend, U. P. Willett, Madison County, Mrs. W. W. Atchison of Oil Fields, Cal., Mrs. J. R. Stout, Plains, Mont., and K. A. Willett of Los Angeles, Cal.
