Mary J. Alspach, Sept. 7, 1900 - Sept. 1, 1993, Mary Jenness Alspach, 92, formerly of South Bend, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday at Brandewyne Convalescent Centeer, Winter Haven, Fla. She was born in Macy to Thomas J. and Etna Berkheiser Ewer. She was a resident of South Bend for over 50 years and retired to Winter Haven, Fla. in 1984. She was a piano teacher for over 50 years. She taught privately and was on the faculty of The Northern Indiana Conservatory of Liberal Arts. She studied with artist/teacher, Leo Podolsky and Mary E. Wilhite. She was a past president of the Indiana Music Teachers Association and a member of the International Piano Teachers Association. She was a member of the Inman Park Church of Christ, Winter Haven, Fla. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Robert J. (Bonny Lee) Weaver, Winter Haven; Dr. and Mrs. E.L. (Mary Maxine) Parker, Mesa, Ariz.; and a granddaughter, Cynthia Lynn Evans, Norcross, Ga. Preceding in death was an infant son, Allen Alspach. Graveside services will be at 2:15 p.m. Saturday at Mud Creek Chapel Cemetery, near Rochester, with Evangelist Kenneth D. Sils officiating. There will be no visitation.
