She was our home.
The only daughter of Charles Leonard and Lula Janet Jordan Townsend, and the wife of Sidney Raymond Allen.
She'd throw Black Cats in the fireplace, saved from either July 4th or New Year's holidays, just make everyone jump and come see what was up. Her caramel cake, topped with a caramel glaze rather than a caramel frosting, is usually referred to as a Granny cake now. She used to chew tabacoo, and mom says she learned it from her mama's side of the family as they worked out in the fields. She canned jellies and made the best grape juice from the wild mustang grapes and made dewberry cobbler from the wild dew berries when there was enough of them in the pasture.
