Blas E Montemayor, 60, 2229 South 3rd St. who was killed Thursday night in a car-truck accident near his home, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Monsignor Emmett Summers officiating.
Born in Dallas, Texas Mr. Montemayor had been employed at Schreiber Mills, Inc. for 27 years. He belonged to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and the American Federation of Grain Millers.
A vicious,inhumane acid throwing incident during a taxicab war here 33 years ago contributed last night to a car accident that claimed the life of Blas Montemayor.
An outstanding amateur fighter as a youth,Mr. Montemayor participated in some of the best bouts staged here in the early 1930's, notably his ones with Joe Yorkovitch.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hope Montemayor; three daughters, Mrs Jack Fergison, Mrs. Bennie Hayward and Mrs. James Cardwell, all of St. Joseph; five sons, Jesse, Albert and Frank Montemayor, all of St. Joseph; Paul Montemayor, of the home, and Blas E Montemayor Jr., Noel Mo.; three brothers, Frank, Merced and Lawrence Montemayor, St. Joseph; three sisters,Mrs. Isabel Cruz, Mrs. Elsie Reno and Mrs.Antonio Lawrence, St. Joseph, and 18 grandchildren.
