Todd W. Scott, 47, Buffalo Gap, TX. (formerly of Norwood, NY), passed away on June 19th, 2011 at the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He had been a patient there since April 2011. His death was unexpected resulting form complications while recovering from major surgery.

Todd is survived by his daughter Eunice M. Scott, Vero Beach Florida, his mother Linda Lashbrook Scott, Massena, NY, his father, Thomas and Holly Scott, Norwood, NY, brothers Timothy and Susie Scott, Buffalo Gap, TX, Thomas Scott Jr., Norwood, NY, sisters Gina Myers, St. Charles, MO, Ginger Scott, Clermont, FL, Elizabeth Scott, Norwood, NY, Step brother Daniel and Anna Consiglio, Philadelphia, PA, Step sister Nicole Consiglio, Norwood, NY, nieces Sarah Myers, Chicago, IL, Emily and Avery Scott, Buffalo Gap, TX, aunts Linna Sitts, Gouverneur, NY, Lucinda Varnedoe, St. Charles, MO as well as many cousins.

Todd was born August 30th, 1963 in Bradford, PA to Thomas and Linda Lashbrook Scott.

He graduated from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1982.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1983-1992 in the Mediterranean, the Pacific, Willow Grove Naval air station in PA and Little Creek CB base in Virginia. His military career was ended by a shipboard accident. He sustained a permanent disability at the age of 28 and was retired since that time. To give you a little background, on May 2, 1992 Todd was aboard the USS Saginaw. The ship was deploying to the Middle-East. Todd was on the deck when a nylon line snapped that was pulling up a causeway, causing the loss of his right leg and hip. After several surgeries, Todd spent the following 8 months recovering in various naval and veterans hospitals. During the next 19 years, Todd moved from Virginia to Louisiana following his ex-wife to be near his daughter. In 2005, the deadly hurricane Katrina came ashore forcing Todd to escape to Texas. He lost everything during Katrina. He re-built his life again with his brother, Timothy and sister-in-law in San Angelo, TX. But on April of this year Todd ended up in a San Angelo, TX emergency room. He had developed a large hernia, caused from his first accident. They were unable to treat Todd at that hospital. Albuquerque New Mexico Veterans Hospital accepted Todd and was medically evacuated via fixed wing. After a 10 hour surgery, he was listed as critical but stable. Over the next 2 months in the intensive care unit, he managed to regain his strength. His nurses and doctors in Albuquerque were concerned Todd may have been suffering from depression so a psych evaluation was ordered. The psychiatrist spoke to Todd and her evaluation concluded Todd was not depressed, she had to talk to the staff to make them feel better. She mentioned when she needed to cheer up she would go speak to Todd. Nurses were signing up to take care of Todd during his last week in Albuquerque. He was scheduled to leave New Mexico to a long term acute care facility in Abilene TX. He was due to leave this past week, when on June 19th (Fathers day) he suddenly took a turn for the worst and unexpectedly passed away. His death has been a tremendous loss to family and friends as well to hospital staff in Albuquerque.

Todd was a gentle, generous, loving, and humorous, man that enjoyed spending time with family, especially his nieces. Todd touched many people's lives. He made a permanent impression with each one.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Todd Scott Memorial Fund c/o Scott Family, (funds would be made to Linda Scott) 629 Maxwell Street, Buffalo Gap, Texas or the Raymond G. Murphy V.A. Medical Center, Albuquerque, New Mexico; or a charity of your choice.

His graveside memorial service is being held at 10:00 a.m. on July 4th, 2011 at the Veterans Cemetery in Abilene. A full honor color guard from the Navy and bagpipe will be part of his service.

Todd was very patriotic, he loved his country. We are honored and blessed to have his memorial service on the 4th of July and on a date of much significance in American history.

A memorial site for Todd is being planned in Buffalo Gap, TX. The site will be a 50 ft. flag pole with lights upon the American flay flying 24/7. A bench will be placed at the base of the pole where people can sit and his name will be "in memory" on the bench.

We love you Todd. You will forever be in our hearts; you have forever changed us and influenced us. You were truly an angel on this earth. We know you are now walking with the Lord.
