Serbia Statesman. Actively involved in politics after World War I in the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenians until his death. He began his career in 1878 as Member of Parliament from Zajecar, the town of his birth. The Radical Party was officially founded in 1881 and he was the first chairman of the Main Board. He became Prime Minister in 1891 and two years later served as an emissary in Russia. In 1904 he formed the Government on his own as the leader of the Radical Party and, with brief intermissions, stayed at this position for the rest of his life. He lead Serbian policy during World War I and represented his country's interests at the Paris Peace Conference after the war ended. He died in 1926 and did not live to see the new state change its name yet again in 1929, when the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was proclaimed.
