US Congressman. Born in Huntingburg, Indiana, he taught school (1876-80), studied law, graduated from the Cincinnati Law School Ohio was admitted to the bar in 1880 and commenced legal practice in Jasper, Indiana. He was prosecuting attorney of the Eleventh Indiana judicial circuit, (1884-90). In 1891, he was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-second and Fifty-third Congresses, serving util 1895. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he served as judge of the circuit court of the Indiana Pike and Dubois Counties, until his death at age 68.
