U.S. Congressman. He attended Tri-State College, graduated from Simpson College Iowa, then taught in the public schools at Steuben and De Kalb Counties, Indiana, (1890-94). He worked for the Auburn Automobile Company, as sales manager, vice president and president of the company, (1906-26), then entered politics as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, in 1928. In 1933, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third, Seventy-fourth and Seventy-fifth Congresses, serving until 1939. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he engaged in agricultural pursuits in Pennsylvania, until his death at age 77.
