Virginia was the widow of the late James Norwood. During her youth Virginia liked to write poetry. She was married on January 15, 1953 and began her family. She was an avid gardener of flowers. Virginia was a loving mother and grandmother, and was very adept at sewing, crocheting and quilting.
Her survivors include twelve children: Six sons; James Ricky Norwood and wife Debbie, David Lee Norwood , Larry Wayne Norwood and wife Donna, Phillip Dale Norwood and wife Christine, Kenneth Mathew Norwood and wife Marie, Joseph Dean Norwood and his wife Rhonda. Six Daughters; Marilyn Diane Dixon, Phyllis Ann and husband Chuck Fite, Sheila Kaye and husband Keith Draper, Rebecca Lynn Lewis, Mary Lisa McCloud and Melonie Gail Lewis. Virginia also raised a grand child, Douglas Eugene Vinson. She leaves behind 52 grandchildren and 83 great grandchildren. All from the Malvern area.
She is also survived by brothers and sisters; Brothers; Horace Tubberville, James Tubberville, Darrell Tubberville, Steve Freeman, Mike Freeman and Bruce Freeman, Sisters; Lois McBroom, Norma Anderson, Geneva Graham, Glenda Dawkins, Wilma Nash from Mena, Shirley Siratt and Joann Stanley, all from the Malvern area.
Mrs. Norwood was preceded in death by her husband, sons Terry Paul Norwood and Timothy Randall Norwood and five brothers and one sister.
The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home from six to eight on Thursday, June 23, 2011.
The funeral will be on Friday morning, June, 24, 2011, at ten o'clock in the chapel of J. A. Funk Funeral Home with Reverend Jerry George officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery .
Pallbearers will be: Chester Norwood , Richard Norwood, Eric Johnson, Dakota Norwood, Josh Norwood, Kenneth Wayne Dyer, Bobby Norwood and Austin Norwood.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Michael Fite, Zack Benn, Kenny Wayne Dyer and Matthew Norwood.
