He migrated to America in 1817 where he resided in Albany, NY and was there when the great conflagration nearly destroyed the city; then to Pittsfield, MA for six years.
In 1826, one of the first English families to settle in Grafton, Lorain Co, Ohio; where he remained until his death. He was a good, practical farmer and held several offices of trust in the township of Grafton; all of which he filled with fidelity and to the satisfaction of those he served. He was among the early settlers of the town and at the time of his death the loss was considered a public calamity. He died in 1857 at 71 years of age; and is buried in the Belden/Old Grafton Center Cemetery, Grafton, Lorain, Ohio
