Dora I. Gale. Dora Gale, of Idaho Falls was born April 16, 1913, in Herrick, South Dakota to James Scott Slaughter and Mildred May Beach. She received her elementary education in Herrick and her Junior and Senior High School in Norfolk, Columbus, Albion and Valentine, Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska for two and one half years and received her B.S. Degree from Idaho State University. She obtained a library degree later. She married Clair E. Gale August 21, 1941, in Alliance, Neb. She worked four years teaching rural schools in Nebraska. She taught in O.E. Bell Jr., High School, Emerson, Longfellow and Theresa Bunker schools. She was head librarian at O.E. Bell Jr. High and was Library Coordinator for District #91 at the same time. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Mrs. Gale was a former member of Delta Delta Delta; Knife and Fork Club; Charter member of Y.M.C.A.; N.E.A.; I.E.A.; I.F.E.A.; Idaho Library Association; and was selected "Librarian of the Year" by this association in 1971. She was a member of Community Concert; United Methodist Women's groups and P.E.O. She enjoyed reading, travel, music, sports, bridge and civic affairs especially Faith and Habitat for Humanity.

Survivors include her son William E. (Yvonne) Gale of Fairfield, OH; grandchildren: Heather (Ross) Mathson of Hamilton, OH; Adam Gale of Fairfield, OH; Tiffany (Brendan) Radtke of Sunbury, OH; and Aaron Gale of Fairfield, OH. She is also survived by four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband Clair. Services for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 12, 2008 at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street in Idaho Falls, with Reverend Daniel Thompson-Aue of St. Paul's United Methodist Church officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the Clair E. Gale Jr. High, c/o Education Foundation, 690 John Adams Parkway, Idaho Falls, ID 93401.
