Businessman. He was the founder of the Holiday Inn chain of hotels. In the 1950s he began the Holiday Inn chain in the Memphis area, which grew into a chain of thousands of hotels. Wilson was viewed as the father of the modern hotel - his hotels were built around the idea of giving travelers a clean, comfortable, high quality place to stay no matter where they were.
