Coeur d'Alene Press, The (ID) - February 1, 2005. Deceased Name: Corine S. McCall Blodgett, 88. Corine McCall Blodgett left this earth to play for the angels on Jan. 26, 2005. Corine was born to James Slaughter and Mildred (Beach) Slaughter in Herrick, S.D., on June 28, 1916. Her siblings were Bernita Jaeger, Dora Gale, Gertrude Johnson, Lucile Steele and Eugene Slaughter. While in college, Corine met and fell in love with Gerald L. McCall, and on June 20, 1940, they were united in marriage in the Church of the Transfiguration at the Grand Tetons, Wyo. Of this marriage Robert H. McCall was born on June 11, 1945, and three years later, on July 16, 1948, James R. McCall was born. Corine's greatest passions and love included her family, music and song. After completing high school in Valentine, Neb., she attended Mary-Hardin Baylor in Texas on a music scholarship. After completing one year there, she continued her formal education at the University of Nebraska and the St. Louis Institute of Music. Corine's husband, Gerald, died of a heart attack in the fall of 1962. Six years later she married Rex L. Blodgett, and they have shared a life of love for 37 years. During Corine's working years, she passed her love of the piano to her students by teaching. She was very respected by all in the music field for her skills as a teacher of piano and music theory. Corine was also a strict disciple of Christian Science. During her retirement years, Corine enjoyed traveling with her husband, Rex, playing bridge, investment club, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and especially her membership in P.E.O.

Corine is predeceased by her parents, her first husband, Gerald, her siblings, Bernita, Gertrude, Lucile and Eugene.

She is survived by her husband, Rex, her sister, Dora Gale, her sons Robert (and Paula) McCall, James (and Lynne) McCall, her stepchildren, Dave (and Memory) Blodgett, Irene (and Richard) Wilson, Carol (and Terry) Hollifeld, her grandchildren, Jarrett, Marc and Barbara McCall, Christi and Mike McCall, Ryan, Scott and Kevin Blodgett, Shane Wilson, Margie and Larry Hollifield, her brother-in-law, Ralph Steele, sister-in-law, LaVerne Slaughter and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made in her name to Hospice of North Idaho at 9493 N. Gov't Way, Hayden, ID 83835 or the Alzheimer's Association at 225 N. Mrs. Blodgett, who was born in Herrick, S.D., died Jan. 26. She received a high school education in Valentine, Neb., and then attended Mary-Hardin Baylor in Texas for one year on a music scholarship. She then continued her formal education at the University of Nebraska and the St. Louis Institute of Music. While attending college she met Gerald McCall, and they were married in 1940 and had two sons. He died in 1962. She married Rex Blodgett in 1968. Mrs. Blodgett was a skilled piano and music theory instructor and enjoyed passing on her knowledge to students. She was a Christian Scientist. After retiring she enjoyed traveling and playing bridge. Mrs. Blodgett was active with her investment club and was a member of P.E.O.

Survivors include her husband; a sister, Dora Gale; two sons, Robert and James McCall; three stepchildren, Dave Blodgett, Irene Wilson and Carol Hollifield; 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835.
