Mrs. L. Malzahn, former Richfield area woman, died

Funeral services for Mrs. Lena Tessmer Malzahn, 84, who died Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Tripoli Nursing Home, were held Wednesday, Aug. 23 at 1:30 p.m. at the Emerson-Milnes Funeral Home in Sumner.

Officiating at the services was John Bohmker, minister of Jehovah's Witnesses. Burial was in the St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery at Richfield.

She was born Jan. 20, 1888 in Bethel Township, Fayette Co., Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Angeline Hackstadt Pleggenkuhle.

She married Walter Tessmer, who preceded her in death in May, 1969. On September 9, 1964, she was united in marriage with Frank Malzahn.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Malzahn; five sons, Alvin Tessmer of Fredericksburg, Wood Tessmer of San Jose, Calif., Dean Tessmer of Tertile, Minn., Archie Tessmer of Campbell, Minn., and Everett Tessmer of Tripoli; two daughters, Mrs. Labenius Kist of Phoenix, Ariz., and Delia, Mrs. Everett Reiser of Fredericksburg; one brother, August Pleggenkuhle of Sumner; and one sister, Mrs. Nettie Ruebner of Westgate. Also 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.



Sister of Sophie (Korupp), Henry, Charles, John, Fred Jr., Minnie (Fedeler), Anna (Hoeger), Nettie (Ruebner), William, Elizabeth (Winter), August and Alvina (Ott).

Walter and Lena had 8 children: Alvin, Labenius Muriel Kist (Husband LeRoy) Woodrow, Dean, Marguerite (died in infancy), Della Reiser (husband Everett), Archie, and W. Everett.
